Niki has worked with children and families for over 18 years now including working as a manager and lead practitioner of a preschool run by one of the UK’s largest early years education charities. She has a first class honours degree in early childhood studies with child development pathway specialising in Attachment theory and patterns, mindsets and Mindfulness.
A certified NLP practitioner and clinical hypnotherapist her interest in subconscious patterns of behaviour led her to train further with the London College of Clinical Hypnosis, and as an EMDR practitioner in foundation, intermediate and advanced levels with EMDR-centre-London who are members of The National Counselling Society. Her main mode of practice in trauma therapy is as an EMDR practitioner.
Particular areas of interest in trauma work are the mind-body practices of somatic experiencing and sensorimotor psychotherapy. Niki is also trained in Brainspotting and professional development includes Internal family systems, Family Trauma Professional and complex trauma specialist certified by the International Association of Trauma Professionals (IATP).
Since its inception Rethinking You CIC has conducted hundreds of free and donations based therapy sessions including working with foster families and marginalised traveller communities. She runs her private practice offering psychotherapy and coaching for children and adults from her home. Her original workshop programme The Resilient Kids Project has been held at various venues across South Devon, and she has given talks and run workshops on anxiety and stress management at events and in community venues.
At home Niki is a mother to a 19 year old son and Muffin the deerhound lurcher. Other loves include her partner (a physiotherapist!), their campervan, the great outdoors and healthy nutritional eating, yoga and fitness. She fails frequently at juggling all these things! Before having her son and working with children she was a groom and riding instructor and has ridden horses all her life.
